Master Technician: Carburetor & Ignition

BMC is searching for a Master Technician in Engine and Driveline Building, Carburetor and Ignition Tuning. The work includes building and tuning Single, Dual, and Triple Carburetors. Competent in Setting base and all-in ignition timing. Engine tune, build, and Diagnostics. Other Skills are always Welcome.


BMC Automobile is located conveniently and close to Highway 65 at:

444 East Dual Blvd. NE Isanti, MN 55040, an easy commute.


EVERY Saturday and Sunday off. No Weekends.

• No Roller-coaster pay weeks. Good Hourly pay plus added Commission.

• This position is Full Time, 40 hours. For the right person, we are Additionally searching for a part time tech.

• Clean, Year-Round Climate Controlled Shop.

•No "Walk-in" Customers Waiting for their cars. Ever.

What's the compensation?

-Hourly pay based on Experience PLUS additional commission pay

Skill Requirements:

-This position requires a high degree of understanding and experience in Engine Building, Carb tuning, and Ignition systems along with an understanding of fastener types and uses.


Note that Some positions at BMC do Not require previous experience in Classic cars, but we Require Excellence in Mechanical Aptitude gained from years of experience in the automotive field.

-We will gladly train a good tech.


Equipment Requirements:

-Standard Equipment required for any shop- all Techs must provide their own Quality Toolbox and Tools.

-Specialty tools provided by shop.



What the average day looks like:

Check the Repair Orders given and parts received, a work-order is written and assigned by the Project Manager, and chosen by the mechanic. Dig in, get as far as possible, write down what was accomplished (paper or computer input both used here based on your direction, training as needed),  request any parts that may be needed, and move on to the next task. Time is given for clean-up both daily and weekly to keep our facilities fresh. Occationally, clients stop in to speak to us and see what we're up to. Vehicle models vary, but the average vehicle model year is between 1930 and 1980.
